The making of "Let There Be"
In the fall of 2017, I was commissioned by the Institute for Creation Research in Dallas, TX to paint the 7 days of creation for the entry of their new multi-million dollar museum and Discovery Center. It was such an honor! It was the most complex series of paintings I had tackled thus far!
There were so many times I wanted to give up, and to quit. Thank God, with His help, I finished and in the fall of 2019 the ICR Discovery Center opened its doors to the public.
Throughout the project, I drew inspiration from countless hours of study, and visits to museums, aquariums and zoos across the country! I worked with wildlife photographers from National Geographic, talked with wildlife enthusiasts, and watched hours of video of space from NASA!
One of the biggest challenges of the project was designing 7 paintings that could stand alone, and flow together. In order to do this, I started with small series of abstract studies to work out the overall design.
One of the questions I get asked the most, is if I painted these 7 paintings in order. The answer...yes! I designed and planned out all 7 paintings in the beginning, and then one by one I finished them.
